The Welsh Detox:

Wales is a place that whenever I go I love to just go offline, relax and spend time with family. I disconnect from all my stresses and focus on how beautiful the country is. This time round I went from the 27th of December 2017 till the 1st of January 2018. Throughout the 27th it was mainly travelling - a long 2-hour car drive with myself, Keith (my dad), Corbie (my mum) and Rosie (my 6-year-old Rottweiler). Yes, I know that sounds boring but I love long drives (I know, you probably think I’m crazy) but there is something I find quite fun about driving and it adds something extra to the experience. All the best chats, lols and singing happen on long road trips and trust me, this was an epic one. We set off around midday and only drove an hour before we all decided that we were hungry so obviously we stopped off at the well-known OK Diner at the Westbound of A55. I love cute little diners as they feel more homely and welcoming than just a usual restaurant. My usual order is the pancakes with bacon and syrup no matter what time it is as it fills my both sweet and savoury tooth (it also just makes me feel more American and a part of the business, I don't know why?). We were there for about an hour and a half - it was filled with constant conversation and just giggles. We then ventured back out and en route to our house, at this time I was cuddled up to my dog and ended up having a nap (so typical of me).

The next morning, was so relaxing I started the day of with some yogurt and fruit and a hot lemon water. The winter chill made me want to cuddle up and stay in bed all day but I knew I had to be productive. So I ran a warm bubble bath with one of my lush bath bombs and started my pampering routine. It got to about midday when I finally was ready to venture out of the house, today we went on a walk under the Menai Bridge - it was breath-taking and really made me appreciate the country I was in. The sea was so peaceful and it was so relaxing just seeing boats sail across knowing they had a great day ahead of them. During the walk it was great to see my Rottweiler Rosie just enjoying herself and running around (even though multiple times we thought she would get frisked away into the sea). That night we went stayed in and just watched a few films (mainly Harry Potter as we were all SO EXCITED to go the Warner Bros. Studio Tour in London featuring the making of Harry Potter). My mum also made an amazing spag bol for tea – simple yet delicious as it is my favourite meal so I appreciated it a lot especially after the long walk we did earlier that day.

Another place we went to during the trip was Beaumaris. So well-known in Wales and certainly lives up to what everyone says. The county town is so beautiful and the community are so welcoming it was amazing. Even though it was winter we still made a quick stop to the “Red Boat Ice Cream Parlour” where I got a rocky road ice cream – it was honestly so delicious I can’t explain it but I promise you it was the best ice cream I have ever had. We also made a trip to Beaumaris Castle. The great unfinished masterpiece is amazing as it educates yet also provides entertainment and enjoyment for the whole family. I would 100% defo recommend going!

We also went to the Janet Bell Gallery, I’m not usually one for galleries however this one was filled with beautiful paintings and photographs on canvases and in frames. They were of Welsh harbours and mountains such as Snowdon, plus lots more. I found it so interesting and made me realise how much talent some people have as honestly the attention to detail was impeccable. On this day

I have gone to Wales specifically Anglesey numerous amounts of times due to having a house there, but this time felt so different. I realised the true beauty of the country. Everything I found myself standing in front of, I wanted to take a photograph of it. It was so breathtakingly beautiful and it completely captured my heart. It is definitely one of my favourite countries and due to only being 2 hours away from home it is perfect for a trip back!
